Kamigata Ukiyoe Museum, the only museum where it permanently exhibits Kamigata Ukiyoe

The Ukiyoe artworks created in Osaka

Kamigata Ukiyoe Museum is located in Osaka Dotonbori by Hozenji temple, which has been closely related to kabuki and Ukiyoe.

The internationally-famous Kamigatae

Ukiyoe may seem to have been more popular in Edo (current Tokyo), but Kamigata (current Osaka and Kyoto) has also been a hub of the artworks in the past.
"Kamigatae" (Kamigata Ukiyoe) was owned by Gogh and famous museums like British Museum and California Museum own many of its artworks.

Experience making your own Ukiyoe on the 4th floor!

There are exhibits of Ukiyoe on the 2nd and the 3rd floor, while the 4th floor is a recreation space to experience making Ukiyoe.
Ukiyoe is made through the process of "drawing", "carving", and "printing"; and visitors can experience the "printing" process here at the museum.

The workshop has three levels, consisting of "beginners", "intermediate", and "advanced"!

By using the museum-original printing tool, you can print the Ukiyoe with 3 to 4 colors. You will be able to choose from 4 patterns.
Your original Ukiyoe will reflect your character and will be a perfect experience.

Ukiyoe products available at the museum shop

There is a museum shop on the 1st floor, and visitors can visit the shop without paying for the exhibits.
There are Ukiyoe postcards and towels, items with Ukiyoe designs. The designs range from beautiful designs to cute designs for you to choose the perfect gift.
